If you were standing out in space on eclipse day – 22 July 2009 – this is how the Total Eclipse would have looked! That tiny black dot moving across the Earth is the only place you could see the Total Eclipse. If you were anywhere in the broader, outer shadow – the penumbra – you would have seen a partial eclipse only.
